Sebastian Martinez is a first-year graduate student, pursuing a master’s degree in documentary journalism at the University of Missouri in Columbia. He also works at KBIA, the local NPR affiliate, producing bi-weekly reports on environmental topics. He is primarily interested in the conservation of tall grass prairie, one of the most endangered ecosystems in the U.S.
Before joining the graduate program at the university, Sebastian received bachelor’s degrees in broadcast journalism and Russian studies. He then went on to work as a digital content producer for the E.W. Scripps Company’s multi-source news website Newsy, where he produced a documentary about the decline of the monarch butterfly migration.
